Helpful Hints
for Shark Tooth Expeditions            (All visits by appointment only)

PLEASE  CALL  SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE  YOUR  RESERVATION  TO CONFIRM,
AND  LET  US  KNOW  THE TOTAL  NUMBER OF  PEOPLE  IN  YOUR GROUP

  1. The cost is $15.00 per person, including teachers, parents, helpers, etc.

  2. We ask that the contact person be responsible for counting heads and collecting money including parents that arrive in cars that have not pre-paid.  It can save your group a lot of time if this is taken care of efficiently.  We accept checks or cash but no credit cards.

  3. Footwear –  Be aware that you will have to step in ankle deep water at times. While most people wear Crocs, flip-flops or sandals, the porous snug-fitting water shoes are best.  (WalMart $5.00/pair)  Old tennis shoes work also.  Tall boots during cold months.

  4. Clothing - Light clothing that will dry quickly works best.  (no jeans)  We don't recommend a change of clothing  as this is too time consuming.  If the kids do get a little damp they will dry out at the playground.

  5. Each person will need a QUART FREEZER BAG with their name on it (use a Sharpie) to put their shark teeth in.  Sandwich and storage bags are too flimsy.  Most teachers take care of this.

  6. While mosquitoes and other bothersome insects are almost non-existent we ask that teachers be responsible for bug spray if you choose.

  7. Most groups bring a lunch and drinks to have at the pavilion after the expedition.  Concessions are not available.

  8. We are very flexible, but the itinerary for most school groups goes something like this:

-  9:30   Arrive at Shark Tooth Creek pavilion where restrooms are available.

-  9:30 – 9:50   We welcome everyone and then give the kids a brief educational history of the shark teeth.

- 9:50 – 10:00   We then take the short hay ride down to the creek.

- 10:00 – 11:30   The actual hunt for the shark teeth and fossils. We will give as much personal assistance to each person as possible.

- 11:30 - 11:45   We then take the hayride back to the pavilion.

- 11:45 - 12:45   Everyone cleans up and has their lunch and then counts their shark teeth.  Each person is allowed to pick out their 15 favorite teeth to take home.  The rest are put back in to a community tray that the kids can swap teeth in and out of.  This ensures that each person has the same amount and quality of teeth.

- 12:45 - 1:45   If time allows, you don’t want to miss “Playworld” which we bill as the world’s largest backyard playhouse, featuring a 150 ft. cable ride.

- 2:00   Most groups leave around 2:00 in order to get back to school by 3:00.
